Sightseeing in Toulouse The Basilica Saint Sernin (San Saturnino) is undoubtedly a masterpiece of Roman art in France. No one is insensitive to the harmony of the apse and the height of the ship. Its Roman architecture and its relics are worth the visit. This basilica is also reputed to be a milestone in the Pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in Spain and being under the patronage of the first bishop and martyr of Toulouse. Open July to September Monday to Saturday from 10 to 18.30hy on Sundays from 12 to 18.30, from October to June from Monday to Saturday from 10am to 12pm and from 14 to 18.30hy on Sundays from 12 to 18.30. Free entrance to the church, the ambulatory and crypt 2 & euro.

The monastery of the Jacobins (or Dominicans) is a perfect example of Gothic architecture in Languedoc, within the same all eyes converge in his column, a unique palm ribs 22 which holds the apse. The bell tower dates from 1298 and on the altar lie the remains of St. Thomas Aquinas. The entire set is amazing for its age, its styles and history. Recall that the Order was founded by Saint Dominic in Toulouse in 1215 and in 1230 the Dominican brothers built the temple. Open daily from 9 to 19h. The entrance to the church is free. Entrance to the cloister 1.50 & euro, free the first Sunday of each month.

As Saint Etienne Cathedral looks unusual in that its initial project was not respected because of political and religious turmoil. Construction began in the thirteenth century and lasted nearly 600 years. The small chapel of the Carmelite deserves our visit just to admire the beauty of the vault with frescoes by Jean Pierre Rivals who sought to compete with the Sistine Chapel. Open Monday to Saturday from 8 to 19h, on Sunday from 9 to 19h and admission is free.

If we have time we can also visit the Church of the Dalbade and the Basilica of the Daurade.

The Toulouse have understood the value of cultural heritage of the city and its museums are proof of their commitment to that legacy. Regardless of the subject have been preserved and valued. In many cases the buildings that house the collections are protected monuments that justify a visit twice: the heritage and architecture.

Saint Raymond museum exhibits beautiful Roman sculptures and other objects of the ancient city, among which include sarcophagi of great value. The building belonged to the old Saint Raymond School built in 1523. Open from September to May 10 to 18h and from June to August 10 to 19h. Input 3 & euro.

Saint Agustin Museum, at 21 Rue de Metz, in the former convent of the Friars of St. Augustine. This building of brick and vaulted rooms are the perfect setting for a collection of sculptures and paintings of religious character. Open daily from 10 to 18h. Input 3 & euro. Bemberg Foundation Museum, at the Hotel d’Assézat, presents a collection of masterpieces, Veronese, Tintoretto, Cranach, Clouet and others through philanthropic giving of a wealthy Argentine billionaire George Bemberg. Open Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 12.30 pm and from 13.30 to 18pm, on Thursday until 21pm. Entry 4.60 adults & euro & euro 2.75 and students.

Georges Labit Museum is a museum displaying objects of different civilizations and continents. From Egypt to Japan via Indonesia showing their beliefs and customs. Georges Labit was an adventurous traveler and built the building now occupied by the museum inspired by Moorish style, exotic style for the time. The exotic gardens and near the Canal du Midi is considered World Heritage by UNESCO. A visit that appeals to everyone. Open daily, except Tuesdays and holidays, from 10am to 18pm from June to September and even October to May 17h. Input 3 & euro, free for children under 18 years 4 & euro to participate in the workshops.
Paul Dupuy museum can see a collection of objects ranging from the Middle Ages to 1939. The collection of antique clocks is known worldwide. Open daily, except Tuesdays and holidays, from 10am to 18pm from June to September and from October to May closed at 17 hours. Input 3 & euro, free for children under 18. Check with participation in the workshops 4 & euro.

Les Abattoirs Museum, the ancient city slaughterhouses have been recycled and today houses the Museum of Modern Art presents art forms that does not leave us indifferent. Open Wednesday to Friday 10am to 18pm, Saturdays and Sundays 11 to 19h. Entry 7 & euro for adults, 3 & euro for children. Free for children under 4 years.

Finally, the pride of the city’s Cité de l’Espace (Space City), a place that shows the recent history of the conquest of space. The offer includes animations, models and projections. This theme park opened in 1997 and is an exceptional experience for the information, much in real time, as images of Mars sent by NASA or the Earth itself. If traveling by car should take the city east of the A-61, exit 17, direction Castres. Bus line 37 leads, direction La Plaine which addresses the Jolimont station exit the subway. Open all year except during the month of January from 9.30 to 17h to 18h during school holidays and weekends in the summer is open until 19 hours. Toulouse also offers guided tours, cruises on the Garonne and canals during the summer depart daily from the pier and a picturesque La Dorada tourist train that runs through the city in 35 minutes, a trip that the children enjoy so original and allows us an approach to the city and its attractions to decide later what to see or where to stop in more detail or where to start our course: the lively old town with its incredible shopping streets, restaurants from budget to “gourmet”, its terraces … or discover the roles and Toys Market, on the left bank of the Canal du Midi …

Toulouse not forget that as many campuses is full of fashion nightclubs, bars and nightclubs, both on the left bank as in the historical and musical festivals from the likes of “Rio Loco” for all the months of June summons thousands of people.
