The international airport in Entebbe near Kampala is the starting point for many a Uganda travel. The city has a botanical garden and a swimming beach on the lake (Bilharziosegefahr).
Kasese to offer trips in the Ruwenzori Mountains and to the Edward-George-and crater lakes.
Fort Portal is ideal for trips to the thermal springs at Bundibugyo and Tororo-animal sanctuary.
An adventure is the gorilla in the observation area of the Mount and the Mount Mgahinga Muhavura. Kisoro is the starting point of hiking tours in the largest habitat of the monkey people of the world. Nearby there are seven lakes with good fishing grounds.
Kampala
In the capital there is the interesting Uganda Museum as well as mosques and palaces of the ancient Kingdom of Buganda. Numerous shops, lively street markets and transport features of the inner city. Other attractions include the Kabaka Tombs on the Kasubi Hill, the tombs of the kings of Buganda. The Kibuli Mosque, the Roman Catholic Rubaga Cathedral, the Anglican Cathedral and the vast Namirebe Sikh temples are also worth visiting.
Mbale
Mbale lies in a fertile plain. This place near the Mount Elgon is in mountain hikers and climbers alike.
National Parks
The largest are Kabalega, Ruwenzori and Kidepo. Kabalega Ruwenzori and offer good accommodation facilities, the Ruwenzori National Park (also known as Queen Elizabeth National Park) is one of the greatest African parks. In the East National Park, near Kampala, there are lodges, banda (huts) and campsites.
