Where to Go

Point – Pitre is the industrial and economic center of Guadeloupe. At the heart of the beautiful city is the Place de la Victoire. On the colorful market, there is much to discover. At the picturesque harbor, visitors can watch the hustle and bustle and explore the narrow streets. The Pavilion dExposition de Bergevin and the Cultural Centre Remy Nainsouta are two interesting museums, for their visit they should take their time.

On Basse-Terre is the village of Saint Marie de Terre Cape, where Columbus once landed. In the south stands an impressive Hindu temple, sometimes you can watch ritual sacrifice ceremonies. Trois-Rivires offers an interesting collection of Indian relics that can be admired on the way to the National Park at Saint-Claude. This 2960-acre park is located at the foothills of the extinct volcano of La Soufrire, which rises 1,467 m high. The sleepy French colonial town of Basse-Terre is located at the foot of La Soufrire. The St. Charles Fort (1605), an interesting example of French military architecture, was restored and converted into a museum. The cathedral and market square are worth seeing.

At Fort Fleur de Lepe on Grande-Terre, there are some impressive caves, which lies north of the old sugar town of Sainte Anne. La Dsirade is quiet and touristy little developed.
The Iles des Saintes consist of a chain of small islands of which only Terre-de-Haut and Terre-de-Bas are inhabited. Both islands are very attractive and offer a good range of hotels. Marie-Galante has good hotels and stunning beaches alongside numerous attractions from the time when the island was still a large sugar plantation. More than 100 sugar mills and a rum distillery can be visited. On the island of St. Barthlemy miniature, a popular vacation spot for celebrities from show business, you can enjoy a peaceful holiday ambience French cuisine. St. Martin offers both quiet coves where the sea is smooth as glass, as well as surf beaches with stronger, so that a variety of water sports can be exercised.
