Muscat is the old city walls and two well-preserved Portuguese fortress from the 16th Century surrounded. Old buildings, narrow streets and three carved gates to the appeal of this city. Also worth visiting are the Ali Mosque, New Mosque and the Sultan’s palace. The Oman Museum and the cultural area in Qurum answer many questions on the archeology, history and culture of the country. The beaches and fishing grounds along the coast are excellent.
Matrah-Muscat
The archaeological excavation of the grave mound near souks Bausharios is particularly impressive.
Nizwa
Nizwa, the holy city of Ibadhi Imam and former capital, is today best known for its gold and silver work.
Jabrin
The palace from the 17th Century is known for its painted wooden ceilings and views over the desert to the mountains.
Bahla
This ancient city has to offer an interesting and unusual pottery souk (market). Excursions into the village of Al Hamra on offer.
Jebel Akhdar
On the slopes of Green Mountain are distributed picturesque terraced villages.
Al Hazm
On the north slopes of Jebel Akhdar Al Hazm Fort lie (1708) and the oasis Rustag.
Qurum
The National Museum has a collection of silver, jewelry, weapons and ancient stone objects. From here you can drive along the coast in dhows.
Wadi Sahtan there to see fascinating rock paintings.
Salalah
Salalah is the capital of the southern Dhofar region. The city is surrounded by coconut and banana plantations and has beautiful sandy beaches. The lush green vegetation, due to the monsoon rains, gives the city an almost tropical feel. Here lies the grave of the Queen of Sheba.
Sohar will find an interesting souk. The fort, with its six towers particularly interesting.
Near Schisr in the desert Rub al-Khali, one has recently completed the ruins of 7000 year old city of Ubar discovered that formerly was an important center of caravan trade (particularly incense).
