About 100 km east of the capital lie the seaside resorts and Assouinde Assinie. Beautiful beaches are located there and in Grand Brby, 340 km west of Abidjan, near the Liberian border, and the fishing village of Sassandra. The former capital of Grand-Bassam is with its beautiful sandy beaches today primarily as a resort for the wealthier inhabitants of Abidjan. The old colonial building, the restored Governor’s Palace, now a museum, and the numerous thatched huts on the beach add to the charm of the city.

In the northeast of Cte d’Ivoire Bondoukouo is one of the oldest places in the country.
In the west lies the town of Man in an area densely forested mountains and plateaus. The tribes and the Guere Yacouba who live here are known for their expressive masks and stilt dancing. In February, in the villages around you instead of the fascinating festivals mask. The approximately 5 km away from you in a bamboo forest, the La Cascade waterfalls are a popular tourist destination. Many holidaymakers are also located on, to climb the mountain Tonkoui (1218 m) or the steep La Dent de Man. Abidjan
Abidjan, economic capital and largest city of the country, from the plateau, the business center, dominates. The city has retained its French flair from the colonial period and is considered the “Paris of West Africa”. The older and more traditional center of the city’s Treichville with its many restaurants, bars and nightclubs as well as the colorful market. Ifone The museum is worth visiting the exhibits range from regional sculptures to jewelry and gold weights. The artifacts provide a glimpse into the lifestyles and crafts of various ethnic tribes in Ivory Coast. Yamoussoukro
The political and administrative capital is Yamoussoukro in 1983, which is about 230 km north of Abidjan. The modern city has a bustling market, a golf course of international standard and some architecturally interesting buildings, including the Palace and the plantations of the former president of the mosque and minarets, with their stylized. Yamoussoukro was the birthplace of the late President Flix Houphout-Boigny, who paid for the construction of the recently completed Roman Catholic Cathedral of Notre Dame de la Paix almost exclusively out of pocket. The imposing building with its 36 handcrafted in France, stained-glass windows, an exact copy of Peter’s Basilica in Rome. The cathedral, with its huge dimensions is an oddity in any country in which Catholicism is a minority religion.
Korhogo, Bouake and Bingerville
Korhogo, 500 km north of Abidjan located, is the principal city of the north. The city is the headquarters of the Senoufo people whose famous wood carvings can be purchased on the market. Here there is good fishing and hunting grounds. Other interesting towns include the ancient capital Bingerville and Bouake in the central region.
National Parks
Packages organized tours that can be booked on site, offer the opportunity to get to know the country. Many of these tours include visits to national parks, to which the Parc du Banco northwest of Abidjan, including 3,000 hectares of equatorial rain forest and the Abokouamkro near Yamoussoukro. Especially worth visiting are the Como in the north-east, the largest wildlife park in West Africa, where one lion, elephant, can observe leopards, hippos and antelope in the wild, and the Ta National Park in the southwest with a primeval rain forest, up to 50 m high trees and a research station for chimpanzee studies.
