Libreville
The beautiful capital Libreville is situated on the sea. Particularly interesting are the artisans’ village and the National Muse, where some of the finest African wood carvings are on display. The catch of Schnitzstil influenced Picasso’s sculptures and busts. A visit to the beautiful Peyrière Gardens in the city center and the popular quarter AKEB and Nombakele worthwhile and a tour of the harbor, the Cathedral of St. Michel (whose facade decorated with mosaics and wood carvings are covered) and the Mont-Boout market.
A road winds its way from Libreville by a forest of giant jungle trees to Cap Estria. One should Kinguele a trip to the waterfalls on the river or drive to make MBei Lambarn, the home of Albert Schweitzer. His hospital is open for visitors. Adventure trips to the rapids of the Okano-Okanda National Park are offered. Further south are the villages and MBigou Etek, which are known for their art carvings and gold mines. In the West, between the sea and a lake that lies Mayumba. Closes in the east, the plateau region of the Bateke cross with an impressive mix of savanna and forests, punctuated by wild rivers like the Poubara, the climb on a real vine bridge. The fauna is extraordinarily diverse. With luck you can watch including forest elephants, buffalo, gorillas, panthers, crocodiles, monkeys and parrots. In the sea live sharks, barracuda, tuna and rays. The National Park Wonga-Wongué Presidential Reserve, Okanda and Lop and a few other game reserves are ideal for amateur photographers.
