Bangui

The city rests on bedrock, surrounded by tropical vegetation. The town is dominated by modern buildings and Mango avenues. 5 km west of downtown at the intersection Boganda Avenue / Avenue Koudougou is the African quarter Kilometre Cinq. Here are the biggest market in the city as well as bars and nightclubs. The busy market in the center near the Place de la République Malachitschmuck is sold. The Boganda Museum, the School of Arts and Crafts, the Cathedral, the Hausa Quarter and Saint-Paul’s mission are worth a visit. The Grande Corniche leads to the banks of the Ubangi, there is a picturesque view opens up the round huts and fishing boats.


Outside of Bangui

In the forest area and Lobaye near MBaiki, about 100 km southwest of the capital, Pygmies live in small huts Liane. At the edge of the woods are everywhere coffee plantations. The village of the same name and Boali waterfalls nearby are a worthwhile excursion (90 km northwest of Bangui). The falls are 250 m wide and 50 meters high, and the view from the restaurant, located at the upper end is breathtaking. The mighty west of Bangassou Kembe cases are also worth seeing.

Bouar in the east of the country there are graves, whose towering megaliths (Tanjunu) should be a few thousand years old.


Safaris

The majority of the national parks located in the far north, near the borders with Chad and Sudan. They are only available during the dry season from Birao reachable by jeep. The animal wealth is impressive, although unscrupulous poachers and trophy hunters have decimated the stocks significantly. Since there is no shelter, sleeping bag and food must be brought.
