Brunei Muara is the smallest and most densely populated of the four administrative districts of Brunei. Perhaps the most impressive sights of the capital, Bandar Seri Begawan is located in an artificial lagoon Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque, with its golden domes and the 54-meter high minaret, which towers over the city. For the mosque marble from Italy, stained glass and chandeliers were imported from England and carpets from Belgium and Saudi Arabia. The Churchill Memorial affiliated with the Churchill Museum is also worth visiting. The regional studies department deals with the history of Brunei Darussalam in the 19th Century. To the building complex also includes the Hassanal Bolkiah Aquarium, whose colorful tropical fish to admire every day (except Mondays). About 15 minutes drive from Bandar Seri Begawan is Meragang Beach. Even more popular Muara Beach, just 27 miles away. Serasa Beach, just a 10 minute drive from the capital, is ideal for wind surfers. By boat you can take half-day excursions to the mangrove island of Pulau Muara Selirong (journey time 45 minutes) where you can experience various monkey and bird species in the wild.
Tutong
Only 10 minutes drive from Tutong, the main town of the same administrative district, to reach the most beautiful beach in the country: Pantai Seri Kenangan, which means in the local language as much as unforgettable beach. It is bordered by the South China Sea and the Tutong River. Another destination is Tasek Merimbun, a picturesque lake in the middle is an island, connected by a bridge to the shore. A jungle trail offers the possibility of species-rich bird life and interesting flora to learn (about 80 minutes drive from the capital).
Belait
Sungai Liang, Belait District, is an almost unique forest in Southeast Asia region, which is accessible by hiking trails (about 70 km/60 minutes by car from the capital). Guided walks are offered.
About 25 km on the road to Labi is another nature reserve, the 270-acre Luagan Lalak Park. Near Kampong Labi Rampayoh lies with its traditional longhouses.
Those who bring the necessary condition and not a two-to three-hour jungle trek uphill and downhill afraid is rewarded with the sight of the idyllic Wasi-Kadir Waterfall.
Lumut Beach, 100 km from Bandar Seri Begawan, 10 km from Seria located, is ideal for sunbathing and relaxing.
Main attraction in Kuala Belait is the old sultan’s residence, Istana Mangelela. For a day trip to Malaysia, you can take the ferry to Kampong Sungai Teraban and continue from there on foot in the small border traffic his way to Sungai Tujoh in Malaysian Sarawak.
Temburong
In the jungles of Temburong district, reachable only by boat, you will find the traditional longhouses. On the 45-minute boat ride from the capital to Temburong can see crocodiles and monkeys. About 16 km from the town of Bangar from Batang Duri Park is located on the Temburong River. In Kuala Bela Long in Batu Apoi Forest Reserve, there is a center for field studies of tropical rain forest (Rainforest Field Studies Centre) found, in which up to 24 visitor accommodation (even tourists are welcome). The nearly three-hour boat ride to get there is quite adventurous and exhausting, as the canoes have to be temporarily supported. In the midst of the almost 1,100-hectare nature reserve is the same Peradayan recreation park. On a 1.6 km long hiking trail you can climb the 410 m high and 310 m Peradayan Bukit Bukit Petoi high and enjoy the panoramic view of the South China Sea, the hills and the villages nearby.
