Phnom Penh

The Buddhist temple was also reopened, and several festivals, especially the Khmer New Year will be celebrated here. Outside of Phnom Penh is the Choeung Ek-bearing, also known as the Killing Fields. Here is a memorial that has been built from the skulls of more than 8000 people who were murdered by Pol Pot’s regime.

Angkor and Oudung

The famous temples of Angkor in northwest originating from the heyday of the Khmer culture (9th to 12th centuries). The restored main temple of Angkor Wat and the ruins of Angkor Thom and Bayon temples with the Baphuon can be visited. Some temples, such as Ta Prohm, are overgrown by tropical rainforest, which gives them a special charm. One should take the tour for safety reasons only with a guide and never leave the marked paths. Oudung located 30 km from Phnom Penh on a hill. From here you have a good view of the plains with the graves of Khmer kings.

Tonle Bati and Sihanouk Ville

Tonle Bati, south of Phnom Penh, has ruins dating back to the late 12th Century. Sihanoukville is a popular beach resort and can be reached from Phnom Penh by bus or plane.
