Hobart

Hobart, the capital of the state of Tasmania, is located on the south side of the island and is the second oldest city after Sydney in Australia. Docks, piers and warehouses of the city attest to the strong bond with the sea. Excursions:

West of the city is 1270 meters high Mount Wellington with secluded hiking trails and picnic areas. The observation deck on top (about 20 miles by car) offers a panoramic view over Hobart, the suburbs, the Derwent Estuary and Storm Bay.

Launceston

Launceston, the second largest city, has the nostalgia of an old British colonial town.

Excursions:

Exploring the environment, such as the Catarac Gorge and Launceston Wildlife Reserve, a wildlife sanctuary, are on offer. Close by is the historic town of Evandale.

Port Arthur

Port Arthur, 100 km from Hobart, was the beginning of the 19th Century, a penal colony. Guided tours are offered through the old prison. In nearby Eaglehawk Neck there is to see amazing rock formations.

National Parks

The unique flora and fauna of Tasmania can be seen in 17 national parks, including the last rain forest in the world in temperate climates. Tasmania is also home to the infamous Tasmanian Devil. Among the most famous national parks including Cradle Mountain / Lake St Clair, famous for the Overland Track Walk, Mole Creek Karst with its colorful rock formations in the King Solomons Cave, Freycinet on Tasmania’s east coast, the Aspestos Range to the north, Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers with his hiking trails, camping grounds and beautiful views, Ben Lomond, Tasmania’s main ski area, South West and Walls of Jerusalem.
