Saba is located on the volcano Mount Scenery, which rises 870 m from the Caribbean Sea. Less than 1,500 islanders live here, there is only one street. Saba is the most original of the Netherlands Antilles, and tourists are still something special. The four villages of the island are small collections of ornate wooden houses clinging to the mountainsides.


The vegetation is lush to the summit, and the crater is a tropical rain forest. You can do island tours by taxi from the airport or pier, or explore the island on foot and walk on the many thousands of stone steps that connect the villages together. The Harry L. Johnson Memorial Museum in Windward Side is the restored home of a Dutch captain. Visitors are offered a plate of pork that was roasted in the oven of the kitchen fresh rock. Windward Side and houses a tourist office, the two largest, most shops and inns.


The island’s capital, The Bottom is 250 m above sea level. d. sts on a plateau surrounded by volcanic peaks. At the museum you can admire the early examples Saba lace, embroidery, intricate lines that look like lace.
