The Windy City is one of the largest commercial, industrial and transportation centers in the world and birthplace of the skyscraper. Also interesting are the Art Institute of Chicago, Brookfield Zoo Tropic World, Seven Seas Panorama and the Six Flags Great America Amusement Park, many skyscrapers in Chicago as the Sears Tower and the John Hancock Center have observation towers. In the Old Water Tower, a landmark that survived the great fire of 1871, today the Visitor Welcome Center (open daily) is housed.
The Chicago Historical Society is dedicated to the task of documenting Chicago’s multicultural history and numerous exhibitions, seminars and online projects illustrate. Springfield
Springfield is the capital of Illinois. Here, married Abraham Lincoln and began his career as a lawyer. Attractions include Lincoln’s Tomb and the Illinois State Museum. The New Salem State Park near a theme park in the style of the pioneer days in Lincoln’s time.
Prairie du Rocher, Kaskaskia and Galena
Southern Illinois was one of the first French settlements in North America. The colorful heritage of the cities can be Prairie du Rocher and Kaskaskia in experience. The Shawnee National Forest covers the lower regions of Illinois with great wilderness areas and many tourist places. Fort Crevecoeur in the West is a replica of a French outpost. To the north is Galena, a Victorian town with many historical sites and tourist facilities. In Starved Rock State Park & Lodge, you can wander from May to September picnic, and boat excursions.
