Where to Go
The largest city, Omaha is a popular holiday destination with a variety of recreational opportunities. A symphony orchestra, pop concerts in the summer, a ballet troupe and a few theaters provide entertainment. The Presbyterian missionaries in 1856 is built Bellevue Church the oldest church in Nebraska. Some interesting museums offer variety, not only on rainy days.
The Joslyn Art Museum has a fascinating Art Deco design and provides an overview of the history of art from antiquity to the present. The story of one of the major rail companies in the pioneer days, the Union Pacific Historical Museum will be pursued. Particularly interesting is the Great Plains Black Museum, the legacy of black people in Nebraska since the mid-19th Century is concerned. Beautiful is a private visit to the Omaha Children’s Museum. In the Old Market district was a large shopping center with movie theaters and other recreational facilities. A few kilometers outside the city offers the 520-acre Fontenelle Forest by excellent hiking on marked trails through wetlands and prairie landscape of beautiful lakes. Nearby is Boys Town, the famous community for homeless boys, which itself is managed this by (visits are possible). Lincoln is home to the impressive State Capitol, the Museum of the University of Nebraska and the famous Sheldon Art Gallery.
To the west of the state determine the landscape of endless plains, from which rise abruptly from Bridgeport and see from afar two high mountains, Scotts Bluff and Chimney Rock (a massive rock).
