New Zealand is a nation with islands, its waters therefore contain a variety of fish and shellfish. Despite this, never have been an important part in their diet. Traditionally New Zealanders have had a low consumption of fish, usually consume large quantities of meat.
One of the most traditional and popular food is the lamb. It is almost always cooked with potatoes and pumpkin. It is tradition food on Sundays.
Fish and chips (fish and chips) is a typical meal served wrapped in newspaper. It can be purchased at many shops in the cities.

Festivities on the island
New Zealand, a country with a recent history there are so many special festivities to commemorate historical events. The most important is the celebration of the signing of Treaty of Waitangi to be held on February 6 and recalls the signing by the British Crown and Maori chiefs and agree to the configuration of the North Island as a British colony.
Another important day is Boxing Day, the day after Christmas, a holiday that dates back to the nineteenth century and forward to the day set out boxes of presents and eat Christmas leftovers.
Another curiosity is that June 16 marks the birthday of Queen Victoria and is a national holiday.
