Six Italian regions relate to the Alps, Valle d’Aosta Valley, Piedmont, Lombardy, Veneto, Trentino – Alto Adige and Friuli Venezia Giulia.
Aosta Valley: The Aosta Valley is ideal for practitioners of skiing, which provides one of the most spectacular settings and in Europe (Alpine glaciers, from the Gran Paradiso to the Matterhorn, and from Mont Blanc to Monte Rosa. In the Aosta Valley can access the highest standards using modern elevators and enjoying spectacular views.
Piemonte: History, landscape, mountain culture … One of the oldest gems of the Italian Alps, always waiting to be rediscovered.
Lombardia: Luxuriant natural environment, it is said that Lombardy is a mixture of passion, nature and tradition. Its tourist tradition is based on many decades of experience and professionalism that make it pleasant to enjoy secluded mountain scenery, meadows, impenetrable forests and vineyards.
Veneto: Veneto is characterized as being an alpine area of outstanding natural beauty. Tre Cime di Lavaredo, the natural amphitheater of Cortina d’Ampezzo in many localities as Cadore, Valle d’Ampezzo, Comelico, Marmolada and Mt Cristallo, among others, that are a paradise for lovers of winter sports.
Trentino, Trentino offers natural and cultural resources, clean air and beautiful surroundings. It is an area of traditions, strong personality of its people, their agricultural products.
Alto Adige: Alto Adige region is located further to the north of Italy in the heart of the Eastern Alps. His landscapes have many different varieties, from the mountainous areas of Ortles-Cevedale (Solda, Trafoi, Val Martello) to the peaks of the Dolomites and the valleys of Atesina Bassa.
Friuli Venezia Giulia: This territory includes the Carnia Alpine, one of the best preserved areas of the Alps. Tarvisio, Piancavallo near Aviano, one of the places best equipped for skiing.
Skiing in the Italian Alps:
Turin in northwest Italy, is one of the main tourist attractions of winter, and a suitable place for winter sports. It also has one of the closest airports to ski.
The Susa Valley is heavily occupied by facilities where skiing, and they include Sauze d’Oulx, Bardonecchia and Sestriere very luxurious.
Sestriere is a very luxurious ski resort, as well as modern. It has about 20 ski runs, of which many are marked and many other free ski.
Valle d’Aosta is further north. It’s a great area with a unique identity. They speak both French and Italian here. This is where converge the highest mountains of Europe, Mont Blanc, Matterhorn, Monte Rosa and Gran Paradiso.
Courmayeur is probably one of the best ski resorts in Italy. It is certainly the most glamorous. Located at the foot of Mont Blanc, and is ideal to go in summer or winter for skiing. It has excellent facilities including cable cars, helicopters and all facilities for skiing. Other areas of special interest in this area include Breuil-Cervinia, the city of St Vincent, Pila and Cogne.
In northeastern Italy find the Dolomites, with endless possibilities for winter sports.
