Two jewels tourism on the Costa de la Luz
A privileged enclave landscape, a former fishing village, a town full of history and heritage. The municipality of Chiclana de la Frontera has 203 square kilometers and more than seventy thousand inhabitants, the village is crossed by the Iro River, which divides the city into “the place” (left bank) and “band” ( right). Sancti Petri, moreover, is not a town itself, was once a fishing village located tuna fishery on a small island or islet at the mouth of the Cano de Sancti Petri called and south of San Fernando. Today, its surroundings are a tourist area featuring a marina and other fisheries.
Chiclana de la Frontera is bordered by San Fernando, Puerto Real, Conil, Vejer and Medina, with its shores lapped by the magnificent Atlantic Ocean. A stone’s throw from downtown will find magnificent beaches, such as Sancti Petri and La Barrosa, and spectacular golf course Novo Sancti Petri, designed by the Spanish champion Severiano Ballesteros. This course gave rise to the luxury development Novo Sancti Petri, who in the late twentieth century was a major tourism boost for a town that had hitherto main activities are shipbuilding and fishing.
